About this course
The Level 1 course is for absolute beginners. English is used as the medium of instruction. This conversational course also uses the romanised Japanese alphabet.
In addition to covering simple Japanese dialogue (through the aid of English translations), basic grammar, vocabulary and expressions, the course will also illustrate interpersonal communication etiquette and formalities on how to address others. Even though this group class emphasises on the speaking aspect of the Japanese language, it also offers a small portion on the writing of Japanese characters.
Students will receive a Certificate of Completion upon completion of the course, if they meet the minimum requirements of 70% attendance.
Students requesting direct entry to any course beyond Level 1 must undergo a placement test. Click here to enquire.
Commencement date is tentative and may be subject to change without prior notice.

Why Take Group Classes?
An advantage of signing up for our part-time Japanese classes is that it is a great place to meet other like-minded individuals who are just as keen about the language and culture. Classes held are immersive and interactive, enabling students to speak Japanese to one another.
The advice from other students and sharing resources will help to ease your learning journey. Additionally, some students find that they are more committed to learning a language in a group setting as compared to a private tutor!
There are no minimum requirements for Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents (PRs). Foreigners would first be required to go through an interview, to assess their suitability for this course.
Corporate Language Training
With globalisation bringing people from various parts of the world together, it is crucial for businesses to adapt and be prepared for new opportunities that may come with this change in environment. Customers coming from different parts of the world may not always understand English, which may result in a language barrier between your business and your potential partners or clients.
Japanese Proficiency Test
Intending to migrate, study or work in Japan in the future? Individuals interested in getting an accreditation for their Japanese language proficiency should consider taking the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT).
With the use of phonetic exercises, students will learn proper pronunciation of the Japanese language, as well as, speaking in the correct Japanese accent. Our aim is to develop students’ conversational skills and appreciation for Japanese. Classes held are immersive and interactive, enabling students to speak Japanese to one another. Students will be able to seamlessly converse by delivering simple sentences and honing a vocabulary of at least 400 words. Hence, at the end of the course, students will be able to construct basic sentences with proper grammatical structure through the correct use of verbs.
